Editing Text in Oracle Forms


This Blog post describes the commands you can use to edit and select text in Oracle Forms. You can enter text in Insert mode or Replace mode. The current editing mode is displayed on the status line in Oracle Forms. To switch modes, press [Insert/Replace].
You can use the following commands to edit text.


If you want to...                                                   Do this...
Move one character to the left or right.                       Press [Left] or [Right].
Move to the next line or previous line in an editor.        Press [Up] or [Down].
Move to the end of the line.                                      Press [End of Line].
Move to the beginning of a line.                                 Press [Beginning of Line].
Select text with the mouse.                                      Click and drag the desired text.
Delete selected text.                                                Select Edit | Clear.
Delete selected text and copy it to the clipboard.          Select Edit | Cut. Or press [Cut].
Copy selected text to the clipboard.                            Select Edit | Copy. Or press [Copy].
Insert clipboard text at the insertion point.                  Select Edit | Paste. Or press [Paste].

Delete the character to the left of the insertion point     Press [Delete Backwards].
